H.M Quackenbush, Safety Cartridge, CAL: 22 S,L,LR, MFG: 1890-1908, SN: NONE, Swing Gate Single Shot Rifle, 18'' barrel. The Safety Cartridge rifle started production in 1896 to around 1920, but a wood forearm was added in 1908. This is the earlier version without the wood forearm. The original straight grip wood stock is very good & solid. There are two small grain cracks, one coming off the top tang & one coming off the bottom, alongside contusions, scrapes & dings. Protective oils have been added over time. The original nickel finish has dulled, with 50% remaining on the barrel & 90% on the receiver, with worn areas fully toned to a brown patina, with pitting. Bore is poor, dark & rough. Fixed rear sight & blade front sight. Original early swiss style metal buttplate, with remnants of nickel finish. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 200 to 400
