Description

RARE EARLY Winchester Model 1897 SOLID FRAME, CAL: 12 GA, MFG: 1903, Antique, SN: 195298, Pump Action Shotgun, 2 3/4'', Choke: Full. 30'' Barrel, Early production. The Winchester Model 1897 was designed by American firearms inventor John Moses Browning. The Model 1897 was an improved version of the model 1893 & was first listed for sale in the November 1897 Winchester catalog as a 12 ga solid frame, furnished with standard 30'' barrels. The 12 ga take-down model was added in Oct 1898, & the 16 ga take-down in Feb 1900. The original round knob pistol grip wood stock & corncob forearm have been nicely refinished. The high gloss finish shows a few nicks & dings. The metal has a matte refinish, with some pitting underneath. Bore is fair. Barrel holds a single front bead. Buttstock carries a ventilated Ranger buttpad. LOP: 13 5/8'' over pad. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 300 to 600
