Springfield Armory, Model: M1903, Cal: .30-06, MFG: 1924, S/N: 1263839, Bolt action rifle, 24'' barrel. The straight wrist, finger grooved, black walnut stock is very good with some nicks, dings, dents, scratches & wear from use/age. ''3839'' stamped into the right cheek of stock. Faint remains of the circle ''P'' proof on bottom of the wrist, there are two ''X'' marks on the bottom of the stock in front of the magazine. The metal finish for this era of Springfield would have been a gray/green parkerization with a black paint over it, which is what this rifle has. The black metal finish rates 97% overall with areas of light wear/thinning. The texture of the metal has the typical sandblasted look from the Parkerizing process. The receiver band is marked ''U.S.'', ''SPRINGFIELD'', ''ARMORY'', ''MODEL 1903.'', & the S/N. the top end of the barrel is marked ''S A'', Flaming bomb, ''11-44''. The bore is good. Its bright with areas of roughness & thinned rifling. Has the 4 groove rifling. The barrel holds a blade front sight with a Buffington rear sight marked 3 to 27. The stock carries a steel trapdoor buttplate with nothing inside. Buttplate has areas of wear. Rifle has both bottom sling loops & stacking loop. Rifle comes with a aftermarket, leather & brass M1907 style sling. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 600 to 1200
