Smith-Corona, Model: 03-A3, CAL: 30-06, MFG: 1944, S/N: 4799317, Bolt action rifle, 24'' barrel. The type C, semi-pistol grip stock is very good as being lightly sanded & oiled. There are two large contusions on the right side of the stock above the magazine. Stock also has a few minor nicks, dings, dents, & scratches from use/age. The parkerized metal finish has complete coverage & rates 80% with some areas of wear/thinning. The receiver band is marked ''U.S.'', ''SMITH-CORONA'', ''MODEL 03-A3'', & the S/N. the top end of the barrel is marked ''S C'', flaming bomb, ''10-43''. The bottom end of the barrel is marked with a ''P''. The bore is very good, near excellent. Its bright & mirror like with only light rifling thinning. Bore is 4 groove rifling. The barrel holds a blade front sight with a receiver mounted, fully adjustable aperture rear sight. The stock carries a parkerized steel, trapdoor buttplate. Buttplate has wear & spots of patina. Noting inside the trapdoor. Rifle has both bottom sling loops with the third stacking swivel. Rifles comes with a leather, M1907 style sling. A nice example of a Mid-war produced 03-A3.
