Long Branch (Canadian), Model: No.4 Mk.1*, Cal: .303 British, MFG: 1943, S/N: 40L3080, Bolt action rifle, 25 1/4'' barrel. The semi-pistol grip, birch wood stock is very good with numerus nicks, dings, dents, gouges, scratches & wear from use/age. The right cheek of stock is marked with a faint ''360''. The stock has no other visible markings. The blued metal finish retains almost full coverage on the receiver with rust speckling & areas of thinning, & as so rates 80%. The blued finish on the barrel rates 85%. The magazine has a black paint finish & is likely not original to the rifle. The left side of the receiver is marked ''NO4 MK1*'', ''LONG BRANCH'', ''1943''. The left side of the wrist band is marked with the S/N. the top of the receiver band s marked ''ENGLAND'', & is marked with proof stamps. The end of the barrel is marked with import stamps. The bore is very good. Its bright with some areas of light roughness. Has the 2 groove rifling, which is correct for this year of rifle. The barrel holds a wide blade front sight with protective ears., & the rear of the receiver has a flip up, tow position, ladder aperture rear sight marked 2 to 13. the top of the ladder is also marked ''MKII''. The stock carries a aluminum trapdoor buttplate. Rifle has both sling loops & comes with a leather M1907 style sling. A excellent example of a mid-war Canadian produced No4 Mk1. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 400 to 800
