Izhevsk, Model: M38, Cal: 7.62x54mmR, MFG: 1942, S/N: M3807088 (barrel S/N rH4402), Bolt action rifle, 20 3/4'' barrel. The straight wrist wood stock is excellent with minimal wear. Stock has a few spots of running shellac stock finish. There are a few faint cartouches on the bottom of the wrist, the bottom of the stock in front of the magazine, the top rear of the comb, & both cheeks of the stock. There is a ''5'' stamped into the top edge of the right side of the stock, right in front of the bolt handle. The metal finish rates 90% with light wear. Many of the markings are faint due to the buffing & re-bluing done when it was refurbished after the war. Top of the barrel is marked with a hammer & sickle in wheat wreath stamp, ''1942'', the original Russian S/N, arrow in triangle, & many other proof marks. Left side of receiver is stamped with import marks. Bolt, magazine floor plate, & buttplate are all S/N matched, the floorplate was forced matched to the rifle. Bore is very good, its bright with light roughness near the muzzle, barrel has been counter bored. Barrel holds a post front sight with protective globe, tangent U-notch rear sight marked 1 to 10. stock carries a blued steel buttplate that is marked with the S/N. rifle has both sling wells for use with a leather ''dog collars'' & sling. Rifle comes with a green canvas sling. Rifle has its cleaning rod. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 250 to 500
