Carl Gustafs Stads Gevarsfaktori, Model: M1896, Cal: 6.5x55mm, MFG: 1906, S/N: 189943, bolt action rifle, 29'' threaded barrel. The straight wrist walnut stock is very good as being lightly sanded & oiled. Stock has small nicks, dings, scratches, & wear from use/age. The metal is very slightly proud to the wood around parts of the magazine & rear sling mount. 1''x 1/4'' square wood plug repair on left side of stock next to rear barrel band, repair looks professional & was likely down at a military arsenal. The bottom wrist of the stock is marked with a Crown over ''CB'' cartouche that indicates repair work has been done at Karlsborg's Tygstation, Karlsborg. Right side of cheek carries a brass bore disc. The blued metal finish rates 90% overall with light scratches & light thinning in areas. Top of the receiver is marked with a crown, ''CARL GUSTAFS STADS GEVARSFAKTORI'', ''1906''. Left side of receiver is marked ''J.V.'' & S/N. the right side of the barrel is stamped with import marks. the ''J.V.'' mark is the initials of the inspection officer Jacques Virgin who was a Swedish Navy Captain at the Carl Gustafs factory. The bolt is S/N matched but all other small parts are not S/N matched. Bore is excellent, bright & mirror like with no visible wear. Barrel holds a wide blade front sight with a stepped tangent/ladder U-notch rear sight. Top of the ladder is marked 3 to 8, bottom of the ladder is marked 7 to 20. the stock carries a non blued steel buttplate that's marked with a crown over ''192''. The buttplate has small spots of patina. Rifle has bottom sling mounts. Rifle has the cleaning rod. Comes with a after market leather sling. The Swedish Mauser line of rifles have gained a reputation of being highly accurate with amazing fit & finish considering its a military rifle. The 6.5mm Round is also known to be a mild recoiling but still very potent & accurate round. Overall a excellent piece that would make a fine shooters rifle. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 400 to 800
