DWM (Mauser Oberndorf), Model: 1908/34 Brazilian Short Rifle, Cal: 7x57mm Mauser, MFG: 1908-1914, S/N: B1005, Bolt action Rifle, 22'' barrel. The semi-pistol grip wood stock is good with numerus, nicks, dings, dents, scratches, vice marks, added oils, & wear from use/age. The stock does not appear to have been sanded but has shrunk in areas from age & metal is proud to the wood around the trigger guard/magazine, & the toe of the buttplate. The blued metal finish is original but rates 40% overall with areas of brown patina & wear. The receiver band is marked with buffed/worn Brazilian coat of arms, with faint remnants around the edges. ''MOD 1908'', S/N, ''DEUTSCHE WAFFEN-UND'', ''MUNITIONSFABRIKEN OBERNDORF AN''. The bore is good. Has a few spots of light pitting & thinned rifling. The barrel holds a barleycorn front sight with a tangent V-notch rear sight marked 2 to 20. the stock carries a steel buttplate with wear & patina. Rifle has both bottom & side sling mount. Rifle is missing its cleaning rod. While the contract for the Brazilian 1908 Rifle was through DWM, they did not make all the rifles. The contracted out some of the rifles to Mauser Oberndorf, which is where this rifle was made. The 1908/34 modification was made later when the stock was replaced by locally made stocks that have finger grooves, the barrel was shortened down to make a short rifle, & the bolt handle was bent.
