Mauser-Werke AG Oberndorf, Model: karabiner 98k, Cal: 7.92x57mm (8mm Mauser), MFG: 1945, S/N: 16130a, Bolt action rifle, 24'' barrel. The semi-pistol grip, laminated wood stock is good, as being cut down, sanded, & left un-finished. There are no viable cartouches left on the stock. The metal is proud to the wood around the trigger guard & magazine floorplate. The metal has been Re-blued & rates 85% overall with some thinning, scratches, & spots of gunmetal gray where the original rear sight was on the top of the barrel, some parts of metal are bare steel & have areas of light rust. This rifle has the correct stamped steel barrel bands, magazine floor plate, & trigger guard as seen on late war K98k's. the barrel bands have been moved back to the end of the cut down stock. the receiver band is marked with the S/N, Waffenamt proof stamps, iron eagle proof stamps, ''Mod.98'', ''SVW 45''. The top, rear of the barrel is marked with more Waffenamt proof stamps & iron eagle proof stamps. The bore is very good, its bright & clean with thinned rifling. The barrel holds the original barleycorn front sight. The original rear sight & base has been removed & was replaced with a fixed aperture rear sight mounted to the back of the receiver. The stock carries the correct steel cupped buttplate with the period correct firing pin disassembly hole through the bottom of the buttplate. The buttplate is bare steel with areas of light pitting & patina. Rifle has the correct rear sling well through the stock & forward side mounted sling loop. Rifle comes with a aftermarket leather sling. This sporterized K98k would make a excellent shooter, truck, or hunting gun that has lots of history behind it. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 200 to 400
