WaffenFabrik Bern (W+F Bern Switzerland), Model: 1896/11, Cal: 7.5x55mm Swiss, MFG: 1900, S/N: 266502, straight pull bolt action rifle, 20 1/2'' barrel. The semi-pistol grip wood stock is very good as being cut down, sanded & re-finished. The added pistol grip was done to these rifles as part of the /11 update done to this rifle since it was a straight wrist stock before. The right cheek of the stock is marked with a Swiss crest. The rear of the comb is marked ''D2+C1'' in a box, & a faint word that's about illegible. The blued metal finish rates 65% with areas of bluing starting to tone brown & having light rust speckling. The left side of the receiver is marked with the S/N. the top of the receiver band is marked with proof stamps. The barrel is marked more proof stamps. Bolt is S/N matched to the rifle. The bore is excellent. Its bright with minor wear. The rifle has no sights. The stock carries a steel buttplate that's toned to a mix of brown patina & gun metal gray. Rifle has the original rear sling loop, but no forward sling mount or loop. Rifle is missing its magazine. The Swiss Schmidt Rubin rifles are renowned for their excellent accuracy, unique, slick & smooth straight pull actions, & the excellent 7.5 Swiss cartridge their chambered in. This rifle has been cut down & refinished giving it no collector value today, but it would make a excellent hunting rifle. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 150 to 350
