UNIQUE SET, Colt, 1849 Pocket, CAL: 31, MFG: 1864, SN: 262735, Single Action Revolver, 6'' barrel. Info from Consignor: Evans was a 1st Lieutenant Volunteer Army Officer & while he never saw the battlefield, he guarded Confederate soldiers in concentration camps during the Civil War. After the war he went to San Francisco to complete seminary to become a preacher. Some years later he moved to Oklahoma with his wife until his early passing at age 45. The top of the barrel is marked ''ADDRESS SAM L COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA''. The left side of the frame is faintly marked '' COLT'S PATENT. The left side of the trigger guard is faintly marked ''.31 CAL''. The backstrap is marked ''REV. CHARLES EVANS, SAN FRANCISCO, 1868''. The original horn grips are very good & solid. They have toned to a butterscotch patina, have a few edge chips & some popped grains at the bottom of both grips. The metal finish has fully worn to gun metal gray & toned to a brown patina, with consistent spotting & light pitting throughout. The brass trigger guard has a nice aged patina & the backstrap has been lightly polished. Bore is fair, with consistent roughness & pitting. Small rear sight notch in the tip of the hammer when cocked & worn brass bead front sight. This pistol is accompanied by a S.Sherlock & Co. holster, belt & leather pouch with a gold eagle emblem. (An interesting fact: S. Sherlock & Co. was the name originally used by George Lawrence or Portland, OR before he changed to the business name to ''GEORGE LAWRENCE''). Additionally, this set comes with three cap tins, (2) California Cap Co. of San Francisco & (1) U.S Army Caps by U.M.C Co, a powder horn with strap & a photo of Charles Evans. A unique set as this Colt was being carried by & used during a very historic time in american history. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 1000 to 3000
