Savage, Model 101, CAL: 22LR, MFG: 1960-68, SN: 4492, Single Shot Pistol, 4'' barrel. This pistol developed by Robert L. Hillberg was intended as a small & inexpensive pistol for youths. This is essentially a scaled-down copy of a six-shooter revolver. On closer inspection, it becomes apparent the pistol is not really a revolver, rather a single-shot pistol. To reload the weapon, the barrel, cylinder & ejector mechanism pop out the right side of the frame, where a .22 LR round can be ejected & a new one inserted. The cylinder is fixed, although fake bullets are machined into the cylinder chambers to simulate a real functioning cylinder. The Savage logo wood grips are excellent, having been refinished. The metal blue finish on the barrel rates 95%, with spotting toned to a brown patina. The matte finish on the frame rates 95%, with scratches & scrapes. Bore is excellent. Fixed square notch rear sight & blade front sight. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 150 to 250
