HISTORY: Designed by the famous Paul Mauser, the Mauser C96 was one of the very first Semi-automatic handguns ever designed, & was the first one to have great success in both the military market & the civilian market. Originally chambered in the 7.63x25mm Mauser cartridge, it would go on to be chambered in many different rounds including 9x19mm & even .45 ACP. It was a favorite of many officers that could buy their own handguns especially British officers. Its was also very influential around the globe having many copy's of it being made (Especially in China) & many note worth people carrying & using the C96, like Winston Churchill & Lawrence of Arabia. A very interesting pistol that no doughty inspired many of the pistols we have today.
CONDITION: The aftermarket, rose in epoxy grips are excellent with a few small scratches & scuffs. The metal has been re-blued, & as such rates 90% with a couple small spots of wear & thinning. The left side of the upper assembly is marked with the S/N & a proof stamp. The top barrel flat is marked ''WAFFENFABRIK'', ''MAUSER'', ''OBERNDORF/N''. The right side of the lower frame is marked ''WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER'', ''OBERNDORF A NECKAR''. Some of the markings have wear from buffing when it was re-blued. The rear of the grip frame is marked with the S/N. the bottom of the barrel has a few proof marks. All serialized parts are S/N matching. The bore is very good. Its bright & mirror like with light rifling thinning. The barrel holds a barleycorn front sight with a tangent, V-notch rear sight marked 50 to 1000. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 500 to 1000
