Mauser (byf code), Model: P.38, Cal: 9x19mm, MFG: 1944 Aug-Sept, S/N: 2928y, semi-auto pistol, 4 7/8'' barrel. The grooved, black plastic grips are excellent with minor wear & scratches. The blued metal finish rates 85% on the slide with holster wear, thinned blue, & speckling of light pitting. The blued metal finish on the barrel rates 75% with spots of thinning & speckling of light pitting. The blued metal finish on the frame rates 80% with thinning & wear on the front strap. The left side of the slide is marked ''P.38'', ''byf'' over ''44'', & the S/N, the S/N stamp has faded edges & was either worn, buffed, or was a light stamp. The other two markings are still crisp & fully present. The right side of the slide is marked with two Waffenamt proof stamps & one iron eagle proof stamp, the edges of the stamps are slightly faded. The front of the barrel lug is marked with the S/N. the eft side of the frame is marked with the S/N & a Waffenamt proof stamp. The bore is very good. Its bright with light roughness in spots. The barrel holds a tall, wide blade front sight with a U-notch rear sight. Pistol comes with one mag marked ''P.38.''. A excellent example of a mid to late war, Mauser produced P.38. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 600 to 1200
