RARE, US, 1873 trapdoor Springfield trowel bayonet, & leather sheath. The bayonet is blued but mostly toning brown, with spotty pitting, & some areas of bare metal gray. The right side of the socket is marked with a faint patent date. The black leather sheath appears to be a modern reproduction. A very interesting & one of a kind bayonet design. Grade: Very Good ++ - Value: 150 to 350
