US Navy, Mark 1 plastic training bayonet, with correct sheath. Styled off the M1905 bayonet, the mark 1 is made entirely of sheet steel & hard, black Bakelite plastic. These bayonets being made of a early plastic were fragile & did not stand up to rigorous use, most examples today exhibit some damage. 300,000 bayonets are believed to have been produced between November 1942 & July 1943. The plastic blade has a few nicks, scratches, & scuffs but is in overall very good condition. Part of the barrel ring is broken off the guard. The grip & pommel also show scuffs & wear. Some of the metal screws have rust. The left side of the metal band of the blade is marked ''U.S.N.'', ''MARK 1''. The right side is marked ''B.M.Co'', ''NORD-3066''. The sheath is marked ''USN'', ''MK1''. The metal on the sheath has light rust & brown patina. Grade: Very Good + - Value: 100 to 300
