SCARCE, US, Norwegian contract, M1 bayonet & sheath. The blade retains almost full finish coverage with spots of thinning & wear. The guard & pommel also retain almost full finish coverage, with spots of thinning & wear. The black plastic grips have light wear & scuffs. The left side of the blade is marked with a faint crown over ''K'', & ''U'' flaming bomb ''S''. The right side of the guard is also marked with a small proof stamp. The sheath is a standard US produced sheath & not Norwegian. The metal parts of the sheath have many dings/dents, & has toned to a brown patina with spots of gray. The sheath is marked ''U.S'' in a flaming bomb. Not much is know about the Norwegian contract M1 bayonets, but this is what we know. about 50,000 M1 bayonets and M7 scabbards were ordered in 1954 by the US, from Norway. They were to be packed for overseas shipment and were delivered to US control. From there they disappear from the record books, & are very uncommon today. It is presumed that they were given to some country under Military Aid, but to who they were given & when, remains unknown. - Value: 150 to 300
