US, Japanese, M4 bayonet & sheath. The blade retains mostly full finish coverage with areas of wear & thinning. The guard & pommel retain almost full finish coverage with spots of wear. The leather grip has use wear, scuffs, & has been darkened from oils/age. The top of the guard is not marked. This sheath is not a original m4 bayonet. The back of the leather sheath is marked ''CAMILLUS'', ''U.S.A.''. Sheath has wear & scratches. Not much is known about these bayonets but its thought that these were made in Japan, & sold by the Kiffe sporting goods store here in the states, in the 1950's & 60's. They were sold as a accessory to the many surplus M1 carbines hitting the US civilian market, the Kiffe store also sold the M1 Carbines. The actual MFG of the bayonets in Japan is unknown, but is speculated to be Howa, since they were making M1 Carbines for the Japanese self-defense force, & for export sale.
