French, M1866 Chassepot, Yataghan sword bayonet, & sheath. The blade is bare steel, with dark brown patina/ light rust, & raised/cleaned pitting all over the blade. The edge has lots of small nicks & chips. The guard & handle also have patina. The left side of the blade is marked ''P.D.I'', ''C'' in a circle. The left side of the guard is marked ''U 35682''. The sheath has a spots of orange/red paint, & has spots of patina & finish wear. The sheath has been heavily buffed & cleaned. Yataghan sword bayonet for use on the 11 mm. M1866 Chassepot needle-fire rifle, which was France's first cartridge fed rifle. Grade: Very Good + - Value: 100 to 200
