Portugal, Steyr, M1885 Bayonet for the M1886 Kropatshek rifle. The blade & other metal parts have been cleaned/buffed. The blade has spots of patina & cleaned pitting, same with the guard & pommel. The black wood grips have chips, scratches & handling wear. The stud button is missing from the bayonet. The right side of the blade & guard is marked with a small cross logo. The left side of the guard is marked ''P91''. This bayonet was designed for use with the M1885 Guedes single-shot rifle, of which 18,000 were in various stages of production at Steyr when Portugal decided to adopt the M1886 Kropatshek repeating rifle instead. Portugal paid for the Guedes', 8,000 of which were later completed by Steyr and sold to the Transvaal and the Orange Free State in South Africa. Grade: Good ++ - Value: 50 to 150
