US, Fayette R. Plumb Co., M1917 C.T. Bolo knife, with sheath. The blade has been cleaned/buffed leading to markings being faint/partially obliterated, blade still has a few spots of patina & cleaned pitting. The guard & pommel have light rust/ brown patina. The guard has a crack halfway through it. The wood grips have small chips & wear. The markings on the left side of the are partial from being buffed, but what is visible reads ''P'', ''ST.LOU'', ''191?''. The markings on the right side are the same & read ''S.MOD'', ''1917 C.T.''. The canvas/leather sheath has heavy wear & age soiling, from use/age, & there are no visible markings. Heavy bolo knife for use by machine gun and artillery crews to clear vegetation when emplacing their guns. According to noted U.S. military knife authority Frank Trzaska, the C.T. stands for ''Commercial Tolerances.'' This signifies that the knife was made to less exacting commercial tolerances, rather than the more stringent tolerances used at Springfield Armory. Grade: Very Good - Value: 150 to 350
