US, Chatillon, WW2 USMC Medical Corpsman Bolo Knife. The blade is fully covered in raised patina & light rust. All the metal has mostly toned to a brown patina. The wood grips have small chips, scratches & wear from use. The left side of the blade is marked ''USMC'', ''CHATILLON.N.Y.''. These bolo knife were originally made as utility knife for use in clearing brush, making splints, stretchers, & light construction, but with the close quarters of the jungles & the Japanese ambush/surprise tactics, they were used & heavily relied upon by many marines to defend themselves, with the blade being over 1/4'' thick in places I could only imagine the damage one of these things can do, these would have also came with a leather sheath but it is missing. Grade: Very Good - Value: 60 to 200
