Description

EARLY Winchester, Model 1873, 1st model, .44 WCF Cal., MFG: 1876, SN: 20068, Lever Action Rifle, 26 5/16'' Octagon barrel, 1/2 mag. Although the barrel does not appear to be cut & does appear original, factory records indicate 28'' barrel. The original wood stocks are excellent & solid, with numerous minor to small handling marks & contusions to the original finish. There may be a thin protective layer added to the original finish. The original metal blue finish rates 80% on the barrel, 60% on the receiver, with a brown patina developing in areas of thinning & loss. The receiver carries the early thumbprint dustcover, without the center guide rail, which was a feature on only the first 30,000 or so rifles. Barrel fitted with an adjustable rear & pinch blade front sights. Bore is excellent & bright. Stock carries a sliding trapdoor crescent metal buttplate, with the four piece cleaning rod inside. Fantastic early production 1873 in excellent original condition. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 10000 to 16000
