Description

RARE Winchester, Model 53 TAKE-DOWN, CAL: 25-20 WCF, MFG: 1928, SN: 995736, Lever Action Rifle, 22'' Tapered round barrel. Half mag. In 1924, Winchester introduced the Model 53 lever-action rifle as a more modern version of the model 1892. Production lasted just 8 yrs until 1932, with very limited production of approximately 25,000. The original straight grip wood stocks are excellent, with a handful of minor surface scratches & tiny contusions. The original wood finish is excellent. The metal blue finish on the barrel rates 98%, while the receiver rates 85%, with most of the loss due to spotty areas, which is often referred to as Winchester flaking of the blue. Bore is very good, but there is a couple of cleaned spots of pitting a couple inches from the muzzle. The barrel holds a flat top adjustable rear sight & low profile front sight. Buttstock carries a grooved metal buttplate. A really nice, all original example of a collectible take-down 53. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 3000 to 4500
