Description

Western Field , Model 48A, Produced by Mossberg as the Model 45B, 22 S. L. LR, MFG: 1938, SN: NONE, Bolt Action Tube Fed Rifle, 24'' round barrel, full mag. The original flat pistol grip stock is very good & solid. Someone has nicely checkered the forend section, but only on the right side. There are several minor surface scrapes or scratches to the original finish, which has worn thin or off in areas & appears dry. The original metal blue finish rates 70% overall, with some splotchy areas of were which are toning brown as it thins. Bore is excellent. Fitted with as multi adjusting receiver sight & a custom ramped globe front sight. There is a single hole on the top of the barrel where a rear sight might have been at one point & the left side of the receiver has two screw filed holes. The stock carries the original buttplate. The finger grooved plastic grip shows some space between it & the wood due to shrinkage over time. There are two open holes in the belly of the stock where sling swivels used to reside. FFL or C&R - Value: 100 to 200
