Description

O.F Mossberg & Sons Model 42M (B), CAL: 22 S.L.LR., MFG: WWII era, SN: NONE, Bolt Action Rifle, 23'' Round barrel. Some rifles of this model were purchased by the military as training rifles & were marked ''U.S. Property''. This example appears to be for the civilian market & is not ''U.S. Property'' marked. The factory cheeked, flat knob, finger grooved pistol grip & Mannlicher-style wood stock is excellent, with minor scuffs, scratches & contusions to the excellent finish. The original metal blue finish rates 90% overall. Bore is excellent. The barrel carries a multi adjusting rear & hooded ramp front sight. The receiver carries the often missing sliding dust cover. Buttstock carries a grooved, metal buttplate with flip-up trapdoor which can carry an extra magazine, this rifle only has the single detachable mag. It is a bit proud to the wood. The stock also has a finger grooved plastic trigger guard. Sling swivels & lower provision missing & therefore two open hole in lower stock. A solid & nice looking example of a WWII era, military style .22 rifle. FFL or C&R REQ - Value: 150 to 300
