Description

The Hamilton Rifle Co. Model 23, 22 CAL S & L, MFG:1905-09, SN: NONE, Bolt Action Rifle, 15'' round tapered barrel, 34 1/2'' overall length. The model 23 was the first bolt action Hamilton produced. The straight grip walnut stock is very good, having been lightly sanded & refinished. There is a 2'' stress repaired stress crack on the left side of stock emanating from the buttend, & light contusions, scratches & scrapes. The original metal blue finish has worn to mostly gun metal gray, with a spotty brown patina & some remnants of original blue in the protected areas. The steel rolled barrel carries the original brass liner, with a 12 groove bore & 1 turn in 16''. Bore is poor, with lots of roughness & pitting amongst thinned rifling. Factory metal buttplate. Original blade front sight & dovetailed rear peep sight. Swivel take-down screw ahead of ''S'' shaped trigger guard. External manual cocking handle. Fairly rare model, with less than 26,000 produced. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 100 to 300
