Description

J. Stevens Arms Co., Model Crack Shot-26, Cal: .22 LR, MFG: 1913-19, S/N: None, Lever action single shot rifle, 22'' barrel. The hardwood straight wrist stock & forend are fair, as having a large 9'' crack repair running along the lower portion of the stock & having been glued & with 4 inset nails. Additional glue repaired 2'' crack at the upper portion of stock emanating from the upper buttplate screw. There are four 1'' to 3'' cracks at the wrist. The stock does have some up & down wobble. The lower portion stock has been sanded removing the original finish on that portion. There are minor scratches, scrapes & wear from use/age. The metal has been buffed cleaned, removing most of the blued finish, leaving metal a gun metal gray & spotty brown patina amongst cleaned pitting. The left side of the receiver is marked with a ''18'' in a circle proof mark, ''CRACK SHOT-26'', & with the ''SVG'' in a circle savage mark. The top of the barrel is marked ''J. STEVENS ARMS COMPANY'' with their patent dates & address, ''22-LONG RIFLE'', ''MADE IN USA'', & a ''16'' in a circle proof. The bore is good, with spots of roughness & pitting amongst solid rifling. The barrel holds a blade front sight & a U-notch rear sight. The stock carries a checkered black buttplate, which is proud to the wood & has a gap at the toe. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 50 to 100
