Description

C.J. Hamilton & Son, The Hamilton Rifle Model 027 (USA produced version), .22 LR, MFG 1908-30, SN: None, Break single shot rifle. 15'' Round barrel. The model 027 was considered the more expensive version of the model 27, as they carried an oval shaped stock made of walnut rather than a flat birch board. Early examples had the same brass barrel liner, which was later changed to a steel liner. The factory walnut wood stocks on this example are fine & solid, despite having a brake repair at the wrist requiring some filler & a couple of stress cracks at the wrist. The stocks have been sanded & refinished. The stocks show some staining & other minor scuffs or handling marks. The original metal blue finish has worn & toned to gun metal gray & a spotty brown patina, with some speckling & nick or abrasions. Steel rolled barrel over brass bore liner, 6 groove bore with 1 turn in 15''. The brass bore is good, with lots of rifling remaining. Barrel carries original open iron sights. Thin metal buttplate. A fairly rare Hamilton single shot rifle. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 80 to 150
