Description

Fabrique Nationale (Browning Patent), Model A5, CAL: 16 GA, MFG: 1926, SN: 45270, Semi-Auto Shotgun, Chamber: 2 9/16'', Choke: Full, 27 1/2'' barrel. This is an early production FN built & marked A5 with the ''Browning Arms Company Ogden Utah'' barrel marking, FN receiver markings & without the side panel receiver engraving of the later variation. The checkered & round pistol grip wood stocks are excellent & solid. The stock has been professionally restored, having been cleaned, possibly lightly sanded & excellently refinished, with few handling marks remaining & without harming the checkering. There is a tiny chip at the front of the comb on the receiver. There is a 2'' stress crack on the belly of the forearm, along with several light scrapes, scratches & contusions to a thin layer of protective oil over the original finish. The original metal blue finish on the barrel rates 90% on receiver, 85% on barrel, with the majority of loss on the barrel coming from spotty surface blemishes & wear. Bore is very good. The barrel holds a single raised front bead. The buttstock carries a Jostam MFG Co. solid recoil pad. LOP: 14'' overpad. A very nice look early example. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 600 to 1200
