Description

Parker-Hale, Model: P1853 Whitworth rifle, Cal: .451 with Whitworth rifling, requiring the use of hexagonal bullets. MFG: 1970's, S/N: 563, Percussion muzzleloading rifle, 36'' round barrel. The straight wrist checkered wood stock is excellent with a few minor nicks & dings. The right cheek of the stock is marked with a ''PARKER HALE LTD'' roundel cartouche. The blued metal finish on the barrel rates 94% with a few small spots of cleaned rust near muzzle. The case hardened finish on the lock plate & hammer retains full coverage with a small spot of rust on the hammer. The top of the barrel is marked ''PARKER-HALE LTD. BIRMINGHAM ENGLAND''. The left side of the barrel is marked ''Sir Joseph Whitworth Patent Rifling-451 Cal.''. Left side of breech plug is marked with the S/N, the top is marked with a British crown over ''BP'' black powder proof. The lock plate is marked with a crown over ''P-H'', ''Parker-Hale''. The bore is excellent. Barrel holds hooded bead front sight with a stepped base/ladder rear sight, base marked 1 to 4, the ladder is marked 5 to 10. The stock carried a brass buttplate. Rifle has both sling loops & has a ramrod. Muzzleloader No FFL Req. - Value: 500 to 1000
