Remington, Model: M1903A1, Cal: .30-06, MFG: 1941, S/N: 3148993, Bolt action Rifle, 23 1/2'' barrel. The semi-pistol grip walnut Type C stock is good. Stock has darkened from oil/age & has nicks, dings, dents, scratches & wear from use/age. Stock has chipped/worn away wood by top tang of the buttplate. Metal is proud to the wood around the magazine. This rifle appears to not have been sanded or refinished, just heavily worn from use. Left side of stock above the trigger is marked with a faint ''P'' stamp, faint remnants of other letters next to the ''P'' but are too worn to read. ''B'' marked on top of wrist. The metal finish rates 85% overall with spots of finish wear/thinning from use. Top of receiver is marked ''U.S.'', ''REMINGTON'', ''MODEL 1903'', & S/N. top end of barrel is marked ''R A'', flaming bomb, ''6-42''. Bottom end of barrel is marked ''P''. Bore is very good. Bright with minor wear to rifling. Barrel holds a blade front sight with a U-notch/aperture flip up ladder rear sight marked 4 to 27. stock carries a checkered, steel, trapdoor buttplate. Buttplate is worn down around edges. Rifle has bottom sling loops & a stacking sling loop. The 1903 Springfield was issued with a pull through in the buttstock not a cleaning rod. FFL or C&R Req.
HISTORY: The M1903A1 designation was given to rifles that were either made with, or replaced with the type C semi-pistol grip stock. The stock went into service in 1929. Remington designed & started producing the M1903-03 variant in 1942 making this a last year of production for the M1903 & M1903A1 rifles. A excellent rifle that shows her age & use/wear, but that is still amazing condition. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 700 to 1400
