Remington Model: M1917 Enfield, Cal: .30-06, MFG: September 1918, S/N: 423764, Bolt action rifle, 26'' barrel. The aftermarket, semi-pistol grip wood stock is very good with various nicks, dings, dents, & scratches from use/age. The top of the comb & the belly of the stock are separate pieces from the main stock & have been nailed together with the nail holes visible. The metal was refinished when it was refurbished by the military. The metal finish rates 90% overall with spots of light thinning & patina speckling. The top of the receiver is marked ''U.S.'', ''MODEL OF 1917'', ''REMINGTON'', & the S/N. the left receiver flat is marked with the US flaming bomb, & two faded eagle head proofs. The end of the barrel is marked with a faded ''J.A.'' over a flaming bomb. The barrel also has a few other small proof marks. This rifle is a mix of Remington & Eddystone parts, typical of a rebuild rifle. The bolt has been converted to be cock on open, rather than to be cocked on close. The bore is very good. Its bright with light roughness throughout. The rifle has it original sights, a blade front sight with protective ears & a receiver mounted, elevation adjustable aperture rear sight. Rear sight ladder is marked 2 to 16. The stock carried a rubber recoil pad marked ''KICK EEZ''. The stock has both sling swivels & comes with a leather M1907 style sling. This was a Military refurbished M1917 Enfield, Evident by the mix MFG parts & also having A WW2 production Johnson Automatics Replacement barrel. A excellent hunting rifle or a nice project to ''un-Sporterized'', since the barrel has not been cut. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 150 to 300
