Eddystone, Model: P14 drill purpose rifle, Cal: .303 British, MFG: 1917, S/N: 494884, Bolt action rifle, 26'' barrel. The semi-pistol grip wood stock is very good with nicks, dings, scratches & wear from use/age. The stock has darkened from oils & age the mounting screws for the trigger guard & barrel bands is missing on this rifle. The stock has been painted around the magazine to indicate this a drill rifle only & not meant to be fired. Both cheeks of the stock have paint markings & faded cartouches. The metal finish rates 70% with areas of wear/thinning & areas starting to tone brown. The top of the receiver is marked with British proofs, a faint ''DP'' stamp, ''ERA'', & the S/N. the bore rating is irrelevant since a steel rod has been inserted to the chamber & welded in place ruining the barrel. The barrel holds a blade front sight with protective ears. The rear of the receiver has a elevation adjustable aperture rear sight. The stock carries a steel trapdoor buttplate. The rifle has both sling swivels but is missing the stacking swivel. These rifles were converted to drill use only for the British, they would paint the red & white strips on the guns & stamp them DP for drill purpose to signify that it was not meant to be fired. They had rods welded into chambers, firing pins clipped or sometimes nothing done to the rifle to stop it from chambering a round & firing. Even though on this rifle you can not physically chamber a round the receiver has not been touched so by ATF rules its still considered a firearm & is being sold with a FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 80 to 200
