HISTORY: This rifle started its life in Russian hands, it found its way to Finland & was used by the army based on the Finnish army property mark ''SA'' on the barrel. Then it was transferred to the Civil Guard & used by them based on the SS marking on the barrel. The first S stands for ''Suojeluskuntain Yliesikunta'' which translates to Civil Guard. The second S indicates it was not a Civil Guard standard issue, but was transferred to the Civil Guard from the army. The number stands for the District the Rifle was assigned to. This rifle was assigned to District 12 Pohjois-Karjala (North Karelia). The Cyrillic ''PK'' marking on the receiver stands for Probaya Komissiya (Proof Commission).
