Description

P. Webley & Son, The British Bull Dog, CAL: 44 Webley? (cal not marked), MFG: 1880's, SN: N/A, Double Action Revolver, 2 1/2'' barrel. The top of the barrel is marked ''P.WEBLEY & SON'', the right side of the barrel is marked ''LONDON & BIRMINGHAM''. The top of the frame is marked in two lines ''THE BRITISH BULL DOG''. The body of the cylinder is stamped ''444''. There are numerous British proofs throughout the revolver. The original checkered wood grips are very good & solid. There are some scrapes & dings, with checkering beginning to smooth towards the bottom of both grips. The original metal blue finish rates 10% overall, mostly worn to metal gray & toned to a brown patina, with consistent spotting & speckling throughout. Bore is good, with roughness & intermittent light pitting. Integral v-notch rear sight & blade front sight. Caliber Comment: we have loaded both a 44 Bull Dog & 44 Webley into the cylinder, the 44 Webley cartridge overall fits better than the 44 Bull Dog. We did not have a .442 CF to try. Measurements by request. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 200 to 450
