Description

Colt, Model: M1911, Cal: .45 ACP, MFG: 1918, S/N: 489182, semi-auto pistol, 5'' barrel. The checkered double diamond wood grips are excellent with minor wear to the left grip. The metal finish was redone in a black phosphate finish by a military arsenal. The metal finish rates 96% with little wear, the finish has spots of roughness/cleaned pitting under it from the re-finish job. The left side of the slide is marked with patent dates, the rampant colt logo, ''COLT'S PT,F.A.MFG.CO.'', ''HARTFORD.CT.U.S.A.''. The right side of the slide is marked ''MODEL OF 1911.U.S.ARMY''. The left side of the frame is marked ''UNITED STATES PROPERTY'', eagles head over ''S17'' over the mag release. The right side of the frame is marked with the S/N. the left side of the trigger guard is marked ''40''. The top of the barrel is marked with a combined ''HP'' stamp. The bore is good. Its bright but has consistent roughness from the start of the rifling to the middle of the barrel, & there is noticeable wear to the rifling at the muzzle. The slide holds a blade front sight with a U-notch rear sight. Pistol comes with one period correct 2 tone mag. The slide seems to bind up & is stiff when cycling, but still operates fine. Even though this pistol was re-finished all the markings are clear & some are even crisp, making this a excellent example of a military refinished M1911. FFL or C&R Req - Value: 800 to 1400
