Description

Walther, Model: P.38, Cal: 9x19mm, MFG: April-May 1945, S/N: 415d, semi-auto pistol, 4 7/8'' barrel. The grooved black plastic grips are very good with light scuffs & scratches. The blued metal finish on the barrel rates 65% with wear/thinning & spots toning to a brown patina. The metal finish on the slide rates 75% with most of the wear on the sharp edges & from scratches. The metal finish on the frame rates 60% with wear/thinning in handling areas. The left side of the slide is marked ''P.38'', ''7499 C'', ''ac 45''. The right side of the slide is marked with one Waffenamt proof stamp. The left side of the frame is marked with the S/N, & another Waffenamt proof stamp. The front of the barrel lug is marked ''7818 C''. The left side of the hammer is also marked with a Waffenamt proof stamp. The bore is very good. Its bright with light roughness & light thinning to the rifling. The pistol has a barleycorn front sight with a U-notch rear sight. Pistol comes with one mag marked ''jvd'', ''P38''. The Walther factory was captured by the allies the first week of April 1945 before the ''c'' block could be completed. The American G.I.'s wanting souvenir's to take home assembled pistols from left over parts from both the C & D blocks leading to the mismatched pistol we have here. All these pistols were vet bring backs. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 500 to 1000
