Description

SCARCE & DESIRABLE, Whitney Firearms Co., Wolverine, CAL: 22LR, MFG: 1950's, SN: 27094, Semi Auto Pistol, 4 5/8'' barrel. The history of this ''Atomic Age'' pistol is a short, but interesting one. This lot includes the book ''THE WHITNEY WOLVERINE .22 CALIBER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL by ANTONIO J. TAGLIENTI''. This book covers the entire story of the Whitney Wolverine pistol, the inventor, his journey, the rise & fall of the ''Wolverine'', & the legacy of the pistol. The first gun rolled off the assembly line in 1956, but production only reached 13,371 units total.

CONDITION: The left side of the barrel is marked ''WOLVERINE'' & the right side of the barrel is marked ''WHITNEY FIREARMS INC. NEW HAVEN, CONN. USA''. The full SN can be found on the front strap. The original checkered plastic grips are excellent. There are minor handling marks & light scuffs. The two-tone finish on the barrel is excellent. There are handling marks & a couple scrapes to the high gloss black finish. The parkerized style matte gray finish on the barrel & frame is excellent. Bore is excellent. Factory square notch rear sight & shallow square blade front sight. Original magazine. A scarce example of a short lived pistol. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 1500 to 2500
