Description

US, Greece contract, M1 bayonet & M7 sheath. The blade has old grease & sheath wear. The left side of the blade is marked ''EN S'', ''E_'' flaming bomb ''US''. The sheath is missing the bottom cap & the metal parts have toned brown. These bayonets are believed to have been made under contract to the US Government & provided to Greece under the Military Assistance Program between 1951 & 1963. they were made to the US government speciation's, & are identical to the WW2 production M1 bayonets, other than the different markings, the sheaths made with the bayonets have the same story. The makers of these bayonets is unknown, but is believed to be European. The ''E'' in the ''E_'' marking stands for the Greek word for bayonet. 19,000 of these bayonets were imported into the country along with M1 Garand rifles returned to the U.S. Government by Greece.
