Winchester Model 1892, CAL: marked 44 WCF, MFG: 1907, SN: 433583, Lever Action Rifle, 24 1/4'' Octagon barrel, Full mag. The original straight grip wood stocks are very good & solid, having several minor to small contusion, scratches & scratches. The original wood finish has thinned at the carry points & naturally darkened at the wrist from use & oils. There is a small glue repaired chip at the upper left corner of the wrist & a tiny missing chip on the other side. The original metal blue finish on the barrel rates 70% , while the receiver has worn mostly gun metal gray, with approximately 20% of thinned blue left in more protected areas. Areas of thinning & loss are toning to a brown patina. Bore is very good. Barrel carries an adjustable rear sight & small pinch blade front sight. Buttstock holds a smooth, crescent metal buttplate. Of interest is that this rifle was owned by Lewis Mayers, who was the principal for many years of the Oregon School for the Deaf in Salem Oregon. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 1000 to 2000
