Savage, Model 99, CAL: 300 SAV, MFG: 1954, SN: 750926, Lever Action Rifle, 24'' round barrel. This rifle has been very nicely & professionally restored. The original checkered & capped pistol grip wood stock & beavertail forend are excellent. The wood was cleaned, but does not appear to have been sanded, except on the left side of the forend where it is slightly dished in the area of the back point of the checkering. There are almost no handling marks remaining to the excellent finish. There are a few tiny chips at the toe edge of the stock. The original metal blue finish on the receiver rates 98%, while the refinished barrel is slightly darker, also rating 98%, with some thinning of the stampings during finish prep. The case-hardened lever retains very nice case-colors. Bore is excellent. The barrel holds an adjustable rear sight & ramp elevated blade front sight. The original grooved metal buttplate was reblued, with some light cleaned pitting under the blue. Jeweled bolt. Sling eyelet. An excellent overall appearance. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 600 to 1200
