RARE Winchester, Model 70 ''Pre-War'' Carbine, CAL: marked 30GOV'T'06, MFG. 1939, SN: 25396, 20'' Round barrel. Carbines were only produced in the early years of the model 70 from 1936 until discontinued shortly after the war in 1946, making these early carbines very rare & highly collectable. The factory checkered & flat pistol grip wood stock is excellent. The factory wood finish is very good, with minor to small contusions, light scratches & some thinning at the carry points. The original metal blue finish rates 95% on barrel & receiver, while the trigger guard & floorplate show additional wear. Bore is excellent. The receiver carries the factory two screw filled scope mounting holes only on the front block which is correct. Fitted with an adjustable rear sight & integral ramped front sight. Stock carries the factory metal checkered & widow's peak buttplate. Sling swivels. Matching SN found on bolt, An original, high condition & collectible early Pre-war carbine model.
