RARE Standard Arms, Model G, .30 REM Cal., MFG. 1909-20, SN: 2887 Pump Action & Semi-Auto Rifle, 22'' Round barrel. This rifle has a unique valve at the front end of the pump tube which can be opened or closed to determine whether it functions as a pump action or as a semi-auto after the initial pump & firing of the first round. Standard Arms wisely chose not to develop proprietary cartridges for their G (semi auto/ pump) & M (pump only), but chambered them for the readily available, proven Remington .25, .30, .32 & .35 rounds originally developed for the Remington Model 8. The original straight grip wood is excellent, having been very nicely refinished, & possibly lightly sanded, some time ago. The stock displays the remains of light to small scuffs, scratches & contusions. Virtually all of the Japan black finish that once covered the elaborate cast brass forearm & buttplate has worn from the rifle & they now carry a very nice dark mustard patina. These brass components were supposedly manufactured & provided to the Standard Arms Co. from the famous House of Tiffany foundry. The metal blue finish is an excellent old reblue, with 80% retention overall, with much of the wear loss found on the back portion of the pump tube & floorplate of the magazine. Bore is excellent. The rifle is fitted with the models original unique rear sight mounted in a slot on the front of the receiver & a Lyman half moon blade front sight. A rare & unique vintage semi auto/pump rifle, with approximations of less than 8,000 produced. Any Standard Arms rifle is fairly rare & this one presents very well & remains collectable. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 800 to 1500
