Remington, Model 8C (Deluxe), marked .25 Rem Cal., MFG: 1913, SN: 31545, Semi-auto take-down rifle, 22'' barrel, Typically one of the most desirable calibers amongst collectors. The original deluxe checkered & round knob pistol grip wood stocks are excellent & solid. They have been lightly sanded & refinished without damaging the original checkering, but the metal is slightly proud to the wood around the wrist area. The inside of the forend is stamped with the correct SN, but there is no ''3'' or ''C'' for grade confirmation. It appears as a ''C'' grade, displaying hand cut checkering that appear at 20 lines per inch & better than typical straight grain. There are two 1/2'' stress cracks emanating from the end of the upper tang & another 1/2'' crack on the belly of the forend. The upper corners of the wrist appear to have small chip repairs. Being an earlier production rifle & a deluxe grade, the stock carries the remains of cheeks at the wrist, which have worn down or rounded during the previous refinish. There remains minor scrapes, scratches & light contusions to the very nice finish. The original metal blue finish remains at 50% overall, toning gray as it thins & worn areas developing a thin brown patina, The receiver carries a Lyman tang sight, while the barrel has been upgraded with the oval leaf folding rear sight & a Marble white bead 34W front blade sight. Bore is very good. Stock carries the Remington plastic buttplate. 5 rd fixed magazine. Tight action. A rare & very nice deluxe rifle in the most collectible caliber.
