Remington, Model 8, 30 REM CAL, MFG. 1920, SN: 42749, Semi-Auto Rifle, 22'' barrel. The rifle appears to have originally been a straight grip stocked rifle, with factory upgraded checkering. The stock has been replaced with a very nicely constructed capped pistol grip Monte Carlo style stock, with hand cut checkering in a similar Remington pattern. The forend appears to be the factory checkered original. The stock's finish matches nicely with the forend. There is a 3'' fairly tight grain crack on the left side of stock, that looks to have been glue stabilized prior to making the stock or at least finishing it. The pistol grip slides over a position of the lower tang. The stocks have minor scrapes, scratches & contusions, with an additional 1'' stress crack along the upper right edge of the forend. Overall, the stocks have a very good to excellent matched appearance. The metal surfaces carries a reblued finish rating 90% overall. The receiver carries a Redfield side mount sight,, while the barrel has a replaced adjustable rear sight & a Marble no. 6 front blade sight. Bore is very good, bright & clean. Stock carries a Pachmayr ventilated recoil pad. 5 rd fixed magazine. Tight action, but the bolt will not stay back as the release lever bottom is either internally broken or possibly installed improperly during bluing process. Makes it very difficult to load. Does not affect firing of rifle, but would need to be fixed or replaced in order for the bolt to be held back for loading or after all rounds are fired. Sling loops installed, forward loop replaces the forend screw. A uniquely customized model 8 rifle. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 400 to 800
