Remington, Model 8, .30 Rem Cal, MFG. 1916, SN: 37693, Semi-Auto Rifle, 22'' barrel. The original straight grip & schnabel forend stocks are very good & solid. Then stock appears to have been sanded & reoiled some time ago & has developed a nice aged tone. There are several small areas on the stock that have fill add back when it was sanded to fill larger contusions. The metal is slightly proud to the wood on the stock. The forearm has been sanded more recently & carries a thin layer of finish. There remains several small to large scuffs, scratches & contusions to the wood, along with a small 1/4'' stress crack emanating from the upper tang. The original metal blue finish has mostly worn away, with some remains on the barrel. The barrel & receiver have a layer of cold blue add which gives it a spotty & thin brown color. Spotty pitting & rust speckling are found on both the barrel & left side of the receiver. Bore is very good, bright & clean. The barrel carries standard front & rear sights. Stock carries the Remington UMC upper tang crescent metal buttplate polished silver. 5 round fixed magazine. Tight action. Would like make a good hunting rifle or shooter.
