Remington, Model 8, .35 Rem Cal, MFG. 1910, SN: 18884, Semi-Auto Rifle, 22'' barrel. The original straight grip & schnabel forend stocks rate only as good due to a glued toe break repair & a 2'' stress crack on the belly of the forend. The break in the toe also broke the plastic buttplate in several places, which has been glued, but is missing a small chip along the right edge & a small chunk by the lower screw. The stocks both carry an added layer of finish carelessly applied, causing finish to also get on the receiver & tangs. There are also several small scuffs, scrapes & contusions to the wood & finish. The original metal blue finish rates 60% on the barrel, 40% on the receiver, with much of the wear located on the forward portion of the receiver & the back portion of the barrel, likely from carry use. The is a small dent in the top of the receiver. Bore is excellent. The receiver carries a Lyman 41 left side mounted receiver sight, while the barrel carries just rear sight screws & a Lyman blade front sight. Sling eyelets. 4 round fixed magazine. There is a repair code on the left side of the barrel from where the rifle was returned to the factory for unknown repair or upgrade, ''EW3''. The action is sticky & the bolt doesn't automatically release when bolt release button is pushed. It requires the bolt handle to be firmly pulled back while button is pushed down & then released for bolt to slam forward. Gun was heavily used & quite dirty or gummed up & could use a good cleaning, which could improve functionality. A little work might drastically improve aesthetics & smoother functionality.
