Remington, Model 81, 32 REM CAL, MFG. 1938, SN: 6153, Semi-Auto Rifle, 22'' barrel. Early production rifle carrying the early generation beavertail wood. The original wood stocks are very good, with numerous minor scrapes, scratches & contusions. The original finish on the stocks is flaking & wore thin. An added layer of finish was applied, which has also worn thin at the wrist & belly of the stock. The original metal blue finish rates 75% on the barrel, 60% on the receiver, with much of the wear to belly of the receiver & mag, which is worn silver. The blue is also toning a bit plum as it ages. The receiver is fitted with a Redfield receiver sight, while the barrel carries a blank at the rear sight provision & a Marble Sheard front blade sight. Bore is very good, bright & clean, but with a few areas of roughness. Stock carries the Remington checkered metal buttplate. 5 rd fixed magazine. Sling loop placed in flat of pistol grip. A well used, but still great early 81 rifle. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 500 to 800
