Remington, Model 4S Military Model, .22 SHORT, MFG 1913-23, SN: none, 28'' Round barrel, Rolling block single shot rifle. The model 4 was made from 1890 to 1933 in several variation & evolutions. This case-colored, 4-S Military Model version was made from 1913 to 23. The wood stocks are excellent & solid, with several minor handling mark, scratches & light contusions to the original finish. The gun has been stamped behind the trigger guard 14-4812, which is an ID # from academies, scout groups or other organizations & not an SN. The original metal blue finish on barrel remains at 70%, while the case-hardened receiver displays outlines of muted case-colors. Bore is fair, with pitting & roughness amongst worn rifling. Barrel carries an adjustable flip-up rear & standard front sights. The stock carries an ''S'' shaped Remington UMC metal buttplate. Bayonet lug on the bottom of the barrel. These 4-s Military Models are said to have been used at Boys Academies to train cadets & are fairly rare & in high demand amongst Remington collectors. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 500 to 1000
